December Gift Guide

Happy holidays! Welcome twinkly lights, warm beverages, and slower days. That’s what we’re manifesting, anyway. Our showroom is decorated and we are wrapping up our last few Design To Go sessions for the year. Our gifting values are similar to our design values in that you should buy once and buy well when you can, and support a small business in the process.

An elevated version of something that’s already used every day and something that can be used or consumed are some of our favorite gifts. Bonus points if the gift receiver wouldn’t typically think to purchase it for themselves. We love to shop with our local community and always try to shop small before thinking about a larger retailer. Most of us love to burn something delightful year round so of course a luxurious candle like the Paris Nuit from Hotel Lobby had to make the list. Pair this with a pretty brass snuffer and custom matches.

Art is another sweet slice of luxury that makes an excellent gift. Two of our favorite local artists are Sarah Golden and Erica Avila. Pictured on the left is Quiet Table No.1 from Sarah and on the left is Erica’s Lattice Flower Pot. Local ceramics are another wonderful option, check out the cuties at Echeri for dishware, plant pots, and more. If you have a pretty good sense of someone’s taste and style preferences, original art or a print is incredibly thoughtful.

Designers are the queens of the schlep and if you’ve been following us or Rebecca for any length of time, you’ve probably heard about the Hulken Bag. We all use them every day to haul everything from our laptops and lunches to presentation materials. Rebecca just bought a new large in black!

We’re always looking for new local spots to shop at and as of this writing, Christmas is in less than a week. Avoid that last minute Amazon gift and consider some of our favorites instead: Public Land in downtown, The Dancer’s Pantry Shoppe in Rancho Cordova, Brass and Oak up in Placerville, and Allspicery in downtown just to name a few. The Midtown Farmer’s Market is amazing and a great way to shop dozens of incredible businesses in one swoop! Get in and out early to beat the crowds.

And that’s a wrap! Let us know what you’ve been loving and gifting. Follow us on Instagram for more of the day to day!
